WORKSHOPS
My workshops are taught in my garden studio and so are for just 1 or 2 adults, ensuring very personal, one-on-one tuition. Classes are suitable for both beginners and practicing artists as they can be tailor-made to suit the individual. There are no fixed dates and so you are able to request any date/day that you think would suit you best and I just simply check in my diary to ensure it’s a day I am available. MIXED MEDIA ABSTRACT PAINTING
Full Day or Half Day
You will be shown a simple and very useful technique to create an abstract design to interpret onto a canvas or board. Using collaged papers, mixed media and experimental mark-making techniques you will be able to complete a textured abstract painting.
CONCERTINA BOOKS
Full Day or Half Day
After being shown a variety of different style folded book structures for inspiration you will produce a folded accordion style book which will be worked onto with collaged papers, pastels, paints and inks, creating apertures and flaps and even simple stitching if required. An experimental and textured way of working will be encouraged.
SIMPLE BOOKS WITH MONOPRINTING
Full Day
We will start by producing a variety of exciting papers using a simple mono-printing technique with acrylics. You will be shown samples of my various art books and we will then produce simple stitched books that will be worked into using your papers, together with various mixed media techniques, lettering, collage etc. Your book can be based on a personal theme if wanted.
TREASURE BOXES
Full Day
You will be given a small wooden box to decorate on a chosen theme. We will then produce various cards, booklets, montages, display boards etc to fit inside your box. You may like to bring some personal ephemera with you to include in this artwork – Sally will be happy to discuss this with you before you come.
HAND STITCHED TEXTILES
Full Day
Using a selection of my silks, calico and cottons and buttons you will produce a piece of hand stitched appliqué, following the ‘slow stitch’ approach to embroidery. Referring to many samples, you will be shown how to produce a small stitched panel, hanging or pocketbook. Instructions will be given on the basic stitch techniques required.
